The lay-by litter of N Devon
Cleaner lay-bys is what we need …..
My Monday, after a little fun session at Croyde …… yes, cleaning a lay-by!
The true surfing lifestyle is not just about catching and riding waves, but being at one with the ocean, and ones complete environment.
Our lay-bys overlooking surf breaks are trashed and toxic from self indulgent, parasitical so called surfers, and vanlifers!
I clean and pickup everywhere I go, from beach, to rocks, to cliff faces, and the lay-bys and pull ins around the south west.
The sights I see tear my heart open. I cry inside and out. Why oh why do people think it’s okay to leave their trash. Their empty cans, tins and bottles. Their takeaway packaging and wooden forks. Their cigarettes butts and face masks. Their wet wipes and underwear.
I don’t post every time I clean, in fact I post rarely about my womble like behaviour. It’s an obsession with me. I see, and I cannot leave.
The lay-by number one at Saunton is now clean, but for how long? We have waves on the way, and we know what that means
Yes, those that don’t live here will come down, and yes, many will leave their mark on our beautiful area.
I’ll leave it with you folks …… have a think! What can we do?
