Devon Coast Therapy &
PTSD Recovery

In his youth, Tim pursued a successful career as a Mechanical Design Engineer before fast becoming a very young Chief Engineer at the tender age of only twenty nine. Then a burgeoning interest in psychology and mental health issues drew him to retrain at Plymouth University and enter the field of psychiatric nursing.

Once qualified, Tim moved to London to work with the inner city communities, specialising in alcohol and substance misuse, forensics, and dual diagnosis. In 2006 he returned to the waves of North Devon convinced of the beneficial qualities of ‘Vitamin Sea’ on mental health.

In 2016 he endured a serious accident whilst working as a Psychiatric Nurse in Devon and as well as physical injuries he went on to suffer severe PTSD. Tim found his road to recovery courtesy of his Devon waves, cove fishing and long walking adventures along the coast.  He openly admits that the work accident brought on immobilising bouts of anxiety, but his own medical training, surf therapy, daily walks in nature and the support of good friends, have helped him to control these episodes and added to his perspective on life.  As a trained psychiatric professional, he now offers mentoring, surf sessions and walking therapy to other PTSD sufferers.

If you would like to speak to Tim about any of his walking or surf therapy sessions, please email him now and following his therapy feed on instagram @devoncoasttherapy.
